Welcome to Eco-Friendly! |
A few weeks back I received an invite for my first ever ZYIA party on Facebook. My friend Jennifer was hosting the party to help her friend Veronica start out her new (and woman owned) local business. Being at home due to COVID-19 I have found myself hanging out more and more in my yoga pants. I figured why not attend the party, help a friend out, and have some fun trying a new brand of activeware. I ended up ordering a few shirts, a sports bra, and a pair of pants. To say I was amazed that my items arrived only a few days after my order (and before the party closed!) illustrated to me that the ZYIA brand is about customer service. The shirts were gentle on my skin and will be perfect for not only workouts but also wearing as camis-style tops. The capris yoga pants were comfortable and I did not feel moisture after doing a few bootylicious squats with my booty bands.
When I brought my package in, my cat Baggins jumped on my package as soon as I placed the items on our bed. Usually my cats (Baggins and Gallifrey) will go for boxes not necessarily plastic like items so I was a bit surprised. Baggins apparently was trying to claim the clothes pile for himself... after distracting him with one of his cat toys I was finally able to open up the individual items. I was very happy to see that ZYIA uses eco-friendly packaging limiting waste. When I found out that ZYIA was not only using earth conscious packaging but also has a mission to go green with their clothing it sold me further on the brand.
If that is not enough ZYIA follows best practices in making sure that any factory that they work with abides by the strictest polices and regulation's in term to environmental safety as well as the working conditions of the employees (actually this is more important than the eco-friendly part if you ask me). They personally visit each location to ensure that these policies are met and are current with their certifications. Some of the most important policies/certifications followed include:
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (basically confirms that products meet guidelines re: safety of substances used)
- DAS Certification (essentially ensures compliance with environmental/health/safety requirements)
- BSCI (protects human rights and provides an ethical code of conduct)
After all of this research and given that I am planning to take advantage of being home due to quarantine (plus they were running a really good promotion) I decided to sign up as a distributor and open up my own local business. If I make some $ - great - authentically though, I can't pass on the discounts and supporting an organization that is aimed to be ethical and eco-friendly. Of course I will still purchase other brands (it isn't a competition - it is complementation) though I am looking forward to enjoying more of ZYIA's clothing once my starter kit arrives.
